Amazon Seller Fees UK 2026: Every Fee in One Table

Amazon seller fees in the UK come in layers: a selling plan, a referral fee on every sale, FBA fulfilment and storage if Amazon ships for you, then a set of surcharges and optional charges, with a 2% Digital Services Fee and 20% VAT charged on top of most of them. Most sellers know the first two. Margin leaks through the rest.

This is the reference we use on client accounts. Every figure comes from Amazon’s UK pricing page or its European FBA rate card (effective 1 July 2026), checked 22 September 2026. Where we couldn’t confirm something, we say so.

Professional or Individual: which Amazon selling plan should you pay for?

Pay for Professional once you sell more than about 33 units a month. The Professional plan is £25 a month ex VAT. The Individual plan is £0.75 per item sold ex VAT, as of September 2026. The break-even is £25 ÷ £0.75 = 33.3 units; Amazon rounds it to 35.

The price isn’t really the deciding factor. Individual accounts can’t advertise, use bulk listing tools or APIs, add users or sell in restricted categories. A brand planning to run Sponsored Products needs Professional from day one.

What is the Amazon referral fee in each category?

The Amazon referral fee is a percentage of the total price the buyer pays, including delivery, gift wrap and VAT, with a £0.25 minimum in most categories. Most sit between 8% and 15%. Several use price thresholds, so a few pence can change your rate. Selected UK categories, September 2026:

CategoryReferral feeMinimum
Home Products8% if priced ≤ £20; 15% above £20£0.25
Kitchen15%£0.25

Read the wording. “Portion of the total price” (Furniture, Electronic Accessories) is tiered like income tax. “Items priced above £20” (Home Products) moves the whole price to 15%: £1.60 at £19.99, £3.07 at £20.49.

The rate card footnotes also set a minimum referral fee of £20 for Heavy Oversize and £25 for Heavy Bulky FBA items. Furniture and garden sellers, check that line.

Amazon FBA fees UK: what does fulfilment cost?

FBA fulfilment in the UK is a flat fee per unit set by size tier and shipping weight, from £1.83 for the lightest envelope to £3.58 for a standard parcel up to 11.9 kg, on the rate card effective 1 July 2026. Parcels and oversize items are billed on the greater of unit weight and dimensional weight, which is (L × W × H in cm) ÷ 5,000. Envelopes use unit weight only.

Representative UK bands, sold on amazon.co.uk:

Size tier (max dimensions)Weight bandNon-peak (to 14 Oct 2026)Peak (15 Oct 2026 – 14 Jan 2027)

Bulky oversize (over 120 × 60 × 60 cm)≤ 760 g£10.20 (+£0.24/kg)unchanged

That’s a slice. The full rate card PDF has every band, plus a separate base-rate-plus-per-100 g grid for clothing, footwear, grocery, pet food and other “selected categories”.

Three adjustments sit on top of those numbers:

  • Fuel and logistics surcharge. Since 17 April 2026, 1.5% is added to FBA fulfilment fees in the UK and nine EU stores. On a £3.04 fee that’s about 5p. The US rate is 3.5%.
  • Lithium batteries and dangerous goods add £0.10 per unit.
  • Low-Price FBA covers most items priced £20 or less (£10 in Beauty/Health, Grocery, Kitchen, Office, Books and a few others) at £1.46–£2.70 per unit. Eligibility is automatic.

Tier jumps cost more than weight bands. Miss the small parcel limit by a centimetre and every unit pays the next tier.

What does FBA storage cost, and when do surcharges start?

UK monthly storage is £0.76 per cubic foot from January to September and £1.51 from October to December for standard-size, non-apparel items, as of September 2026. It’s charged on your daily average volume, measured in the unit’s packaged size.

UK monthly storage (£/ft³)Jan–SepOct–Dec
Standard-size: clothing, eyewear, footwear, bags0.620.82
Standard-size: all other categories0.761.51
Oversize0.550.87
Dangerous goods, standard-size0.741.30
Dangerous goods, oversize0.701.11

The Q4 rate is nearly double.

Storage utilisation surcharge. Your ratio is average daily stored volume ÷ average daily shipped volume over the past 13 weeks, measured in weeks. Above 22 weeks, a surcharge is added to standard-size storage: £0.42/ft³ (22–28 weeks) rising to £2.29/ft³ (over 52 weeks). It doesn’t apply to Individual sellers, sellers in their first 52 weeks of FBA, or anyone storing under 25 ft³ a day.

Aged inventory surcharge. On top of monthly storage, for stock over 241 days old:

Days in stockUK surcharge
241–270£1.18/ft³ (apparel, footwear, bags, luggage, jewellery and watches excluded)
271–365£3.14/ft³ rising to £3.41/ft³ in 30-day steps
365–455£5.71/ft³ or £0.20/unit, whichever is greater
455+£6.14/ft³ or £0.25/unit, whichever is greater

Low-inventory and inbound placement fees. Neither appears on the UK rate card as of September 2026. Both are US charges. Europe’s only equivalent is the Pan-EU low-inventory cost coverage fee (Germany, France, Italy and Spain).

Which other Amazon selling fees catch UK sellers out?

The fees people miss are triggered by events, not sales: returns, refunds, removals and inbound mistakes. None is large per unit. Together they’re often where a profitable SKU turns unprofitable.

  • High-return-rate processing fee. Charged per returned unit above a category-specific return-rate threshold (measured over the month of shipment plus two). £2.35 for a small parcel ≤900 g. The thresholds aren’t on the public rate card.
  • Apparel returns. In clothing, accessories and footwear, the returns processing fee is 50% of the fulfilment fee.
  • Refund administration fee. When you refund, Amazon returns your referral fee minus the lesser of £5.00 or 20% of it. On a £24.99 sale at 15%, that’s £0.75 you don’t get back.
  • Removal and disposal. Return-to-seller from £0.49 (standard-size, ≤200 g) to £1.57 (501 g–1 kg); disposal from £0.74 to £2.28 in the same bands. Liquidation adds a 15% referral fee on recovery value.
  • Manual processing fee. £0.15 per unit if you send a shipment without box content information.
  • Prep services. Amazon stopped offering FBA prep and label services in its European stores, including the UK, from 1 July 2026, so any prep or Amazon barcode labels your units need must be done before they arrive. If a unit arrives without a required Amazon barcode, Amazon may charge an unplanned service fee of £0.15 to £0.30 per unit, depending on your coaching level.

Lost and damaged inventory runs the other way: Amazon owes you, and rarely pays without a claim. See how to audit FBA fees and claw back reimbursements.

Do Pan-EU and EFN change Amazon FBA UK costs?

Not for UK sales. Selling into the EU from UK stock uses Remote Fulfilment, priced well above domestic FBA. Since Brexit, Pan-European FBA and the European Fulfilment Network (EFN) only work between EU stores, using EU-held inventory. From the July 2026 rate card:

RouteSmall parcel ≤ 900 g
UK domestic FBA£3.04
Remote Fulfilment, UK stock → DE/FR/IT/ES€7.93
Remote Fulfilment, EU stock → UK£4.62
EFN (EU stock shipped to another EU store)€8.45

Pan-EU adds an oversize surcharge and a low-inventory cost coverage fee (€0.16–€0.67 per unit below 28 days of supply), plus VAT registration wherever stock is held. That’s a separate decision, covered on our expansion service.

How do the Digital Services Fee and VAT apply to Amazon fees?

UK-established sellers pay a 2% Digital Services Fee on Selling on Amazon and FBA fees for UK store sales, then 20% VAT on the fees. The Digital Services Fee (DSF) became a separate line on 1 October 2024, passing on the UK’s Digital Services Tax.

From 20 March 2026, UK-established sellers pay 3% DSF on fees for sales in France, Italy and Spain. As far as we can see, that change left the 2% on UK-store sales alone. Your transaction view will confirm it.

VAT on fees. Since 1 August 2024, UK-established sellers are invoiced by Amazon EU S.à r.l.’s UK branch with 20% UK VAT on fees, not a reverse charge. VAT-registered sellers reclaim it. For everyone else it’s 20% on top of every fee on this page.

The referral fee is calculated on the VAT-inclusive price. On a £24.99 sale, a VAT-registered seller keeps £20.83 of revenue but pays a referral fee on the full £24.99.

What changed in Amazon’s UK fees in 2026?

Net fees fell for most UK sellers in 2026, apart from the fuel surcharge. The announced changes:

  • 15 December 2025: UK parcel fulfilment cut by an average £0.26; clothing referral fees cut to 5% (≤£15) and 10% (£15–£20).
  • 5 January 2026: new Home Products category at 8% up to £20 (was 15%); Pet Clothing and Food, Grocery, and the new Vitamins category at 5% up to £10; Low-Price FBA extended to £20.
  • 17 April 2026: 1.5% fuel and logistics surcharge on fulfilment fees.
  • 15 October 2026: UK peak fulfilment rates begin, running to 14 January 2027.

The US changes (bulky tiers, packaging and inbound placement fees) don’t apply here. Our 2026 FBA fee changes post explains the difference.

Worked example: what are the total fees on a £24.99 product?

On an illustrative £24.99 home product, Amazon’s fees come to about £7.22 ex VAT: 29% of the shelf price and 35% of the ex-VAT revenue. This is a made-up product using published rates, not client data.

Assumptions: Home Products, Professional, VAT-registered, FBA, 450 g, packed at 25 × 18 × 8 cm, sold in September, two months of stock held. Dimensional weight is 25 × 18 × 8 ÷ 5,000 = 0.72 kg, so it’s billed in the ≤900 g small parcel band. At £24.99 it misses both Low-Price FBA and the 8% Home Products rate.

Total Amazon fees (ex VAT)£7.22
Left before COGS, inbound freight and ads£13.61

Sold in November, fulfilment rises to £3.20 with the surcharge and storage to £0.38: £7.52 in total. A seller who isn’t VAT-registered also carries £1.44 of VAT on those fees.

Run your own numbers through the profit calculator, then set your break-even ACoS. With a £6.00 landed cost, this product has £7.61 before ads: a break-even ACoS of about 36.5% on the ex-VAT price. If your console’s ad sales include VAT, the ceiling you compare against console ACoS is about 30% (the break-even ACoS calculator shows both). Your bids have to respect the lower figure until you’ve checked which basis your console uses.

One pricing note: at £19.99 the referral fee would be £1.60, not £3.75. A £5 cut costs £4.17 of net revenue and saves £2.15 in referral fee. Model it before you assume either way.

How do you check you’re paying the right Amazon fees?

Compare what Amazon charges against the rate card, SKU by SKU. The Fee Preview report shows the dimensions, weight and size tier Amazon holds for each ASIN. If it has your product measured too big, every unit is overcharged until you challenge it.

Monthly, re-measure anything within 1 cm of a tier boundary, check referral rates near £10, £15 and £20, and reconcile lost and damaged reimbursements.

Dimension checks are the first step in our FBA fee audits.

FAQ

How much does it cost to sell on Amazon UK?

As of September 2026: £25 a month ex VAT on the Professional plan (or £0.75 per item on Individual), plus a referral fee of mostly 8–15% per sale. FBA sellers also pay fulfilment from £1.83 per unit, plus monthly storage. UK-established sellers pay a 2% Digital Services Fee and 20% VAT on those fees.

What is the Amazon referral fee in the UK?

It’s a percentage of the total price the buyer pays, including delivery and VAT, set by category. Most categories charge 8–15%. Some use price thresholds, for example Home Products at 8% up to £20 and 15% above. There’s a £0.25 minimum per item in most categories, and none for books, media, software or grocery.

How much are Amazon FBA fees in the UK?

On the rate card effective 1 July 2026, UK fulfilment runs from £1.83 for a light envelope up to 20 g to £3.58 for a standard parcel up to 11.9 kg. Oversize starts at £3.49. A 1.5% fuel surcharge applies, and peak rates run from 15 October 2026 to 14 January 2027. Storage is £0.76/ft³ (Jan–Sep) or £1.51/ft³ (Oct–Dec).

Does Amazon charge VAT on seller fees in the UK?

Yes. Since 1 August 2024, UK-established sellers have been invoiced by Amazon EU S.à r.l.’s UK branch with 20% VAT on fees. VAT-registered sellers can reclaim it. For sellers who aren’t VAT-registered, it’s a straight 20% cost on top of every Amazon fee.

What is the Amazon Digital Services Fee in the UK?

It’s a separate charge Amazon added on 1 October 2024 to pass on the UK Digital Services Tax. It’s 2% of Selling on Amazon and FBA fees for UK-established sellers selling in the UK store. Since 20 March 2026, UK sellers pay 3% on fees for sales in France, Italy and Spain.

Is the Amazon Professional plan worth it?

Yes, if you sell more than about 33 units a month, since £25 ÷ £0.75 = 33.3. Brands need it regardless of volume: only Professional accounts can advertise, use bulk listing tools and reports, add users and sell in restricted categories.

Are there inbound placement or low-inventory fees on Amazon UK?

Not on the UK rate card as of September 2026. Both are US fees. In Europe, the Pan-EU low-inventory cost coverage fee applies only to Germany, France, Italy and Spain. UK inbound shipments without box content information pay a £0.15 per-unit manual processing fee.
